Martin Luther King Holiday: I’m Sick and Tired

On Martin Luther King Holiday in 2020, I realized I’m sick and tired. I am immersed in Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches, particularly today. In my search, I discovered this video clip and it definitely spoke to me. I’m sick and tired. I’m SICK and TIRED. The non-violent approach is absolutely radical.

I imagine a time in our world where we work together to build greater. Seemingly forcing humanity on all people. There will be a time in our world where we won’t know things such as hate, poverty, violence. Instead we’ll position ourselves together, to resolve such things. There will be a world where the very least we pledge to do will be to love our neighbor. I’m hopeful there is a significant group of people who are also imagining the same. Until then, we can independently ensure that we live according to the same principles of Martin Luther King’s #IHaveADream.

Then and only then can we …..

“…hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal:”

“… sit down together at a table of brotherhood.”

“…..be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.”

“….live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

I suppose my imagination, is indeed this same thing as a dream. I have a dream, too. Imagine being able to come together for the greater good of human beings. We could do grand things like eradicate homeless and famine with the goal of creating our world, a better place, by loving and respecting its people.

I’ll keep dreaming.
